ABOUT THE CLUB
The club is one of the foremost gundog clubs in the country, and has a national reputation. Formed in 1970 as the Flintshire Retriever Club, some of the founders are still members today. The base for the club has always been Gwysaney Hall near Mold, by kind permission of the late Capt. and Mrs Davies-Cooke, both of whom took a great interest in the working retriever, and now his son Richard and wife Sarah are continuing to support the Clwyd Retriever Club.
We meet for training classes every week from April until the end of June at Gwysaney Hall.Classes range from Puppy and Beginner, where dogs from six months are taught basic obedience, to stop and come to a whistle, and given some simple retrieves, to Classes for Novice and Open standard dogs and their owners.
We run Working tests, Novice and Open Trials. We take part in interclub Competitions with other gundog clubs; we also run scurries and do demonstrations at country fairs.Whether you are interested in just having an obedient dog or want to go further, to work or compete with your dog, come along and see if this is for you.
